Pictures of HopeA starting place for reconciliation with God 01/27/2022

We have begun to read through the Bible in a Year, following Dr. David Jeremiah’s reading plan, which proceeds through the books of the Bible in the order in which they appear. If you are interested in reviewing other plans methods, you might try Back to the Bible.

Today’s reading is:
Exodus 38-40

Exodus 40:38 (KJV)

For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

We're reading through the Bible in a year, using David Jeremiah's plan. Today's reading is Exodus 14-16.

Today's highlighted verse is Exodus 14:13-14:

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Plenty of Time? Are we ready?

Beginning Again

“Where do I go from here?” “How do I start?”

Here are some thoughts.

We might think that the yearning to draw close to the Lord came from within us, but actually that yearning came from Him; He puts it there; He orchestrates the circumstances that lead us to the desire to come to Him; He initiates the relationship, not us. This is an amazing truth! What a wonderful realization, that the Lord loves us, in spite of our transgressions, and wants us to be with Him!

We shouldn't take His invitation lightly, or delay responding to Him. Harden not your heart! In Scripture, we are warned that we should not assume that additional opportunities or time will be given for us to respond.

To respond, we pray. We agree with the Lord that we need Him, are sorry for anything that He is bringing to our mind as conviction of wrongdoing. We ask Him to forgive us, heal us, renew our relationship. We thank Him for saving us.

This is repentance. I think we don’t like that word because we don’t like to admit that we have done anything wrong, even when we know it is true deep down, and sometimes we don’t like to change. It can be difficult and uncomfortable. God will help us. God knows that we cannot do this on our own.
