Leaf Mold in the making! I've been reading about leaf mold and how great it is for gardens for years, but didn't have mature trees around to make any and you can't buy it.
It's an amazing soil conditioner, improving aeration and water retention in compacted soils and pots and creating a great habitat for soil life, including earthworms and bacteria.
All you do is decompose leaves. That's it. Without any nitrogen sources like grass clippings or kitchen waste. Just leaves. Fungi do all the work.
Ideally you want to shred them as I just did so they break down faster. *Make sure you pile and shred right away to avoid hurting little animals like frogs that can hide in piles*. Then place in a plastic bag, poke some holes and wet the leaves inside. Once in a while give the bag a shake and roll and if dry, hose with some water. In around 6 months it will be ready, dark brown and crumbly and smelling like the forest after a rain (more like a year if you don't shred them).
You can also pile the leaves and cover with a tarp. Happy !

Baguette
400grs bread flour (2.5c)
1tsp salt
1c warm water+1.5tsp yeast +1tbsp sugar, let sit for five minutes.

Add liquid to flour and salt and knead until smooth. Let rise a half hour.
Roll out to a rectangle shape and cut in two, rolling two logs (check out my stories). Score the tops and let rise 45 minutes. Brush with coconut oil and bake at 375 until golden brown. Add steam at the beginning by placing a cast iron pan in the oven while preheating and adding a cup of boiling water to the pan when you place the bread in the oven.

If you're wondering if that thumb thingy popping up in your feed works, it does! Useful little thing for deadheading flowers quickly. Removing spent flowers allows more of the plant's energy to go towards making more flowers, as opposed to seeds. It also makes them less attractive to chipmunks and the like.
