Last call for Creativity Practice x6
“We are what we practice.”
The idea of these sessions is that we can find practices that help us each move toward new patterns for ourselves. We can practice into ways of moving through our days, weeks, and projects that are more like how we want to be as a creative person.
One of our first inputs is the semi-famous piece by Ng’ethe Maina and Stacey Haines, “The transformative power of practice." Here are a couple of quotes.
“Each time we do the practice, we're spending that moment of time interrupting the old habits and living the new pattern that we seek to put into place. Literally as we practice... we're creating new neuronal pathways in the brain and new muscle memory in the body. So we want to ask ourselves, what is it that I want to be practicing? And take this question seriously.”
“Practice is transformative because you begin to embody new ways of being. Through repetition, what was a new practice becomes natural, easy. A new habit. ...We are what we practice.”

Starting in January, I'm hosting a practice group called "Creativity Practice x6." (x6 because, you know, there are six sessions.)
Conversations about it have turned up enough "huh" for an FAQ.
- Is this a course? If it's not a class, what is it?
- Does that mean no lessons or lectures? What am I getting for my $?
- Is this an art thing? Is it learning to draw or write?
- (Variations) I’m hungry for / afraid of a soulful experience. I seek to be stretched / I avoid discomfort. What can you say about that?
- Geez it kind of feels like a lot of money. Just sayin.
