Ever wonder why we take semester breaks at Making Strides Foundation? 🐴💙

Our equine-assisted services run in 10-week sessions with short breaks in between to give our therapy horses time to rest and receive important care like chiropractic work, joint support and Magnawave treatments.

Behind the scenes, our team stays busy with staff training, barn deep cleaning, rider re-evaluations, horse training, gardening in Mason’s Sensory Garden and preparing for upcoming events like our 4th Annual Summer Showcase Charity Horse Show.

Even during break, there’s still plenty happening around the barn! Learn more about upcoming events at www.makingstridesfoundation.org/events.

Keeping our therapy horses comfortable, sound and feeling their best is a top priority. 🐴❤️

Just like human athletes, horses benefit from regular sports medicine care to help maintain healthy joints and mobility. During evaluations, veterinarians assess movement, perform flexion tests, complete X-rays and Ultrasounds and identify areas of discomfort or stiffness. The veterinarian may administer joint injections and suggest anti-inflammatory medication to reduce inflammation, improve comfort and support long-term soundness so our horses can continue doing the important work they love.

We are grateful for our amazing veterinary team: Equine Performance Veterinary Services (Dr. Baney, our board member, pictured above) and Allegheny Equine Associates. Our veterinarians keep our equine partners happy, healthy and ready to care for our riders every day!
