Wyrd and Whimsy DFW

Ten years ago today, 49 beautiful souls had their futures stolen at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

Pulse was more than a nightclub. It was a sanctuary. A place where LGBTQ+ people could dance freely, celebrate who they were, fall in love, laugh with friends, and exist without apology. What should have been an ordinary night of joy became one of unimaginable heartbreak.

Today, we remember the 49 lives lost, the survivors who continue to carry the weight of that night, the families forever changed, and the community that chose love in the face of hate.

As a q***r person, I think about how sacred spaces like Pulse are. They remind us why visibility matters, why compassion matters, and why we continue to build communities where everyone can feel safe, seen, and celebrated exactly as they are.

May we speak their names. May we honor their lives not only with grief, but with action, kindness, and courage. May we continue creating a world where no one has to fear being themselves.
