2/14/26: Sometimes there isn’t much you can change in a layout, but the right adjustments can make a big difference.
Here’s the finished kitchen — taller, brighter, and much more comfortable than before. The goal was to make it feel bigger, more modern, and brighter without changing the overall footprint.
Swipe to see where we started.
Originally, the space felt tight and dated. The drop ceiling with fluorescent lights brought the height down to 7 feet. The refrigerator crowded the doorway, and the 12x12 tile floors didn’t help.
Once demo started and the soffit came down, the room immediately opened up.
Removing soffits almost always reveals more than expected — and this one was no different. We uncovered electrical wires, junction boxes that needed relocating, and plumbing pipes from the second story running below the ceiling line. The electrical alone took two days to trace and reroute properly.
The original plan was to install 42” upper cabinets to the ceiling, but because of the plumbing we switched to 36” cabinets instead. We used a tall filler with crown molding to hide everything cleanly. Honestly, that ended up being my favorite detail. I’m not always a fan of 42” cabinets straight to the ceiling — they don’t always work and can feel forced.
We shifted the doorway about 8 inches to improve the flow of the kitchen and give the refrigerator a proper place without sacrificing cabinet space.
On the opposite end, we removed a wall and gained about 16 inches, which allowed us to install a true pantry cabinet.
We also replaced the old blind corner cabinet. I’m not a fan of those either — they waste space. The new corner cabinet with a lazy Susan makes that area fully usable.
New 12x24 tile, antique white cabinets, quartz tops, updated appliances, and a clean backsplash finished it off.
The footprint stayed nearly the same — but the kitchen feels taller, brighter, and far more comfortable.
The client was super excited about the outcome, which is always the best part!

4/17/25: This week we finished this amazing transformation at the house of a wonderful couple! When we were first called out to look at this particular project, we were surprised to see just how big the tub deck for the drop in tub was. You could have fit 2 tubs in there! Because of this the shower was tiny, dark and claustrophobic. The clients knew they wanted a bigger shower and a stand alone tub, but weren’t too sure about the details. Once we got out there we exchanged ideas back and forth and finally settled on what we have now! I can honestly say that this bathroom could not be any nicer! The shower is huge now, with 2 shower heads - since they have all that room now. We went with shorter walls (and glass soon) to let more light into the shower. Since the shower is so big, we put the water controls at the entrance of the shower. One on each side. The free standing tub was moved under the niche and shelves that the original builder built. The black and white complement each other perfectly throughout the bathroom! This is definitely our new favorite bathroom remodel! Question: Do you have a dull outdated bathroom and would like a dramatic change? Give us a call!! That is our specialty!!

7/30/24: This master bath was in serious need of an update when we first saw it. Our client had just acquired the home and felt the bathroom was too dark for her liking. The old travertine tile had just collected too many stains and dirt over the years. The shower was enclosed with no lighting which made it feel like a cave. In order to brighten it up, our client chose a series of white tiles with black accents. She wanted to keep the existing tub in the same location, but it had to be refinished and pushed back towards the window a bit. We cut the entry shower wall into a half wall to let more light in. We finished with recessed lighting to help with the brightness. The last thing the client wanted was a heated floor so she wouldn’t have to step on cold tile after a shower. The end result is a timeless bright bathroom, which lightens your mood when you walk into it! I’d love to hear your thoughts about this transformation!
