Parrot consulting and training

Lets talk about my favorite species, Amazons.
There is particular misinformation that amazons are difficult to manage are grumpy, grouchy, hot and cold. Theyre extremely misunderstood in the parrot community and inexperienced people perpetuate the reputation.
Like any parrot, they can have their moments, want respect and can succumb to hormones.
I have worked with alot of amazon species and a majority of my own personal birds are amazons. If you are having an issue or just want to chat amazons reach out!

Need to keep your bird busy while wrapping last minute gifts?
Zip tie a branch to the side of your cage and hang toys for some fun enrichment that will keep them busy for hours!
Teaching your bird tricks can help keep them busy! It can also help teach them skills they will need for being groomed and examined.

You ever wonder why parrots talk or how?
Dont discredit the use of budgies. They have the biggest vocabulary on record of any parrots.
Researchers put tiny probes in parakeet brains—and found parallels between parrot and human speech. https://trib.al/X08EiZr

Whether you buy a baby or rescue a bird. Do your research. Not all breeders, bird stores and rescues are the same.
Some bird stores and breeders will sell you a bird without education or disease testing hoping just to turn a profit. There are a few rescues like that too and people posing as rescues to accumulate birds.
Whichever way you decide for a new friend, do your research! Local bird facebook groups are a good place to start.
(I have done all three, no judgement about baby vs rehome/rescue here)

Harness training your beloved bird can be super difficult but have many benefits.
Its best to start as a baby but not all of us get that option. Start by getting them used to the harness as an object in their daily routines.

Merry christmas from my flock to yours!
Do you want to do target training or tricks but are having trouble getting your birds to understand the clicker?
First and foremost they have to understand the clicker. The clicker is a reward. A marker of a behavior that you want presented. They need to associate it with reward. So you need to charge it. Spend the first week handing a treat and clicking the clicker at the very same time.
Happy clicking!
