Time to get on the water

Just another day. Big Bend fishing report 3/3/26 | GuideChecker 04/09/2026

Spring fishing in Florida’s Big Bend is firing on all cylinders right now 🔥

Shallow flats early, structure on the incoming tide—and the trout and redfish are eating everything we throw at them. It doesn’t get much better this time of year.

If you’ve been thinking about getting on the water, now’s the time. The bite is hot and the window is short.

Even when the wind reminds us who’s in charge, the Florida Big Bend continues to produce for anglers willing to adapt.

This past week brought challenging conditions across the Big Bend coast, with steady winds forcing us to rethink our usual game plan. But that’s part of fishing this unique stretch of Florida—understanding how weather, tides, and water clarity affect fish movement is the key to staying on the bite.

While redfish were our primary target, the conditions pushed us into areas better suited for speckled trout fishing in the Big Bend, and that’s where things really came together. By focusing on protected water, cleaner grass flats, and dialing in our presentations, we were able to stay consistent and put together solid catches throughout the week.

The takeaway? The Big Bend inshore fishery rewards flexibility. When the wind blows, knowing where to go can make all the difference. Trout stacked up in the right areas and stayed active, giving anglers plenty of action despite less-than-ideal weather.

As we move forward, expect fishing in the Big Bend to keep improving with warming temperatures and more stable conditions. Redfish, trout, and even early migratory species will continue to become more predictable.

If you're looking for a true Old Florida fishing experience, the Big Bend offers year-round opportunities—you just have to know how to adjust.
