This year, I enjoyed Christmas from my couch (i caught the crud) but watching the magic of Christmas through a 5 year old is truly the best.

Our family and its traditions have evolved over the years all to encompass who we are today. We keep the traditions that feel nurturing and loving while letting go of the ones we have outgrown. Our family is still growing (in all of the ways) so each year we get the joy of celebrating what is.

Each year year gets better but not because it’s different and new. It gets better because the previous year shaped and carved depth in who WE are. This year gave us the experience of freedom. Free to love and be loved. We have learned to love wide over the years as a family but this year was about BEING loved. This experience came with both celebration and heartbreak. The journey of being loved came with cost and boundaries. But as a family we rose up stronger and deeper in love with each other. This year has been our most authentic year yet and we cherish it.

To know and be known is the greatest gift family can give each other. No conditions, no rules, no expectations. Just know each other…right where we are as we are. That’s love. And to protect that kind of love is hard work.
