On Monday, May 4, Professor Linda Tamura spoke at the Ledding Library in Milwaukie contrasting her childhood lack of knowledge about Japanese American wartime experiences with George Takei's childhood memories - and her abrupt recognition as a young adult.

Thank you, professor Tamura, for sharing your experiences. Our education system shies away from discussing its darker deeds, so it's all the more important that we keep those memories alive.

AANHPI month may be coming to a close, but we aren't done honoring and celebrating our amazing community!

On April 29th, The Oregon Nisei Veterans WWII Memorial Highway and Historical Marker Project was awarded the Oregon Heritage Excellence Award.

Oregon Nisei Veterans WWII Memorial Highway and Historical Marker Project for its grassroots collaboration that culminated in the dedication of a 41-mile stretch of Highway 35 from Government Camp to Hood River as the Oregon Nisei Veterans WWII Memorial Highway and a state-sponsored historical marker telling the story of more than 430 Oregon Nisei who served in World War II, even as many of their families were incarcerated under Executive Order 9066.

As the air cools and leaves begin to change, the atmosphere comes alive with lanterns, taiko drums, and the comforting aroma of seasonal street food.
Items for sale will feature: takoyaki (octopus balls), yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), kimchi, spam musubi, anda dogs (donut dogs), fruit sandos and desserts by our famous Ikoi no Kai home bakers.

will have games for the kids and Epworth United Methodist Church will host a rummage sale of Japanese treasures with produce and Iwasaki Brothers flowers!

Preorders must be received by Wed. October 1. We’ll have plenty of food this time to purchase on site! Additional items may be available on a first come, first serve basis.
