I’ll be taking a “social media break” from now until after my surgery but before I go, here is a special “Runes of Elfland” reading in celebration of Summer Solstice.
Here, we have A Rune of Thorn that is a gift to be used when a hurtful secret must be kept, or when you have no other choice than to heal.
I feel that many of us are still feeling the strain of the COVID virus, but not in ways that we normally think about. There’s been many lost connections between friends, family, and loved ones, and now we have to figure out where to even start to regain relationships that seem misplaced.
You may think that everything is “back to normal” in your personal life, but I challenge you to think back to right before lockdown : was there an argument that never felt settled? Did you mean to tell a relative some bad news, but ended up just pushing it under the rug? Were you meaning to tell your boss that you don’t appreciate the way they speak to you, but now have been swallowing that bitter aggression?
No matter what kind of conflict you are currently navigating, now is the time to decide to either confess it, or release it. Small, unattended wounds grow worse with time. Take your pain and burn it in the solstice fire. If are looking for a physical representation of letting this go, try writing it on a piece of paper with the rune on the other side. If you have any dried Saint John’s Wart available, toss some into the fire as well for protection.
