Two of our awesome YouthLine volunteers were invited to come witness OR Governor Kotek sign into law some amazing mental health legislation for Mental Health Awareness Month. One of the laws, SB 1546, was one that our youth advocated for at the state capital and during legislative sessions. This bill creates more safeguards for AI usage to help protect users in crisis by redirecting them to the proper professional crisis supports. We're so proud of our youth who advocated for change and thank you to Governor Kotek and the First Lady for listening.

An important reminder that there's no specific qualifications on what issues are deserving of support. Whether you're in crisis or not, you are deserving of having someone listen nonjudgmentally to whatever you need support with. If you need someone to talk to, we're always here for you.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, weβre focusing on breaking the stigma around mental health! Throughout May, we'll be sharing resources, important conversations, and collaborating with community partners to normalize talking about mental health and seeking help! π
Mental health stigma can make young people feel like we have to stay silent about what we're going through, but no one should have to struggle alone.
We believe asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Join us this month as we work to create more honest conversations and spaces where youth feel supported.
Letβs break the stigma together.

Taking care of our minds and bodies isn't always easy. There can be so many demands, expectations, and pressures that make it hard to slow down! Take a second to reflect on these questions and see if there is one small thing you can do to meet your needs in these areas of life. You deserve it π
