The OMA Board of Trustees met in person and virtually on Saturday, adopting resolutions on Evidence-Based Public Health and Vaccine Policy and Safeguarding the Public from Nitrous Oxide Use Disorder. We were joined by guest speaker Oregon Rep. Ben Bowman, who emphasized clinicians’ crucial role as advocates. “You’re in a unique position as experts that elected officials trust,” he said. “Your voice can matter a great deal, and I hope that you'll use that opportunity.”

A message from SmokeFreeOregon on World No To***co Day:

The Oregon To***co Retail License Program has decreased youth access to to***co for the fourth year in a row. After nearly 26% of retailers sold commercial to***co products to those under the age of 21 in 2022, Oregon's violation rate has dropped to 11%. Thanks to the commitment of retailers and community partners, fewer youth and young adults in Oregon can access these products, leading to lower addiction rates and life-long use.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and data released last month by the American Medical Association showed that 41.9% of physicians reported experiencing at least one sign of burnout.

OMA Executive Committee member Dr. Kirk Wolfe remarked on the importance of physician and PA well-being in these very challenging times: “Taking care of ourselves — and those in our care — is how we’re getting through this.”
