State Flowers : North Carolina Dogwood, North Dakota Wild Prairie Rose, Ohio Scarlet Carnation 🌺
The North Carolina General Assembly designated the Dogwood as the state flower on March 15, 1941, due to its abundance and beauty across the state
The tree blooms in early spring and is found throughout North Carolina, from the mountains to the coast
Dogwood is considered a herald of warmer weather, and is sometimes associated with religious symbolism, with its four bracts said to represent the cross
Native Peoples historically used the bark and roots as a remedy for malaria, and for producing red dye

The North Dakota state flower, the Wild Prairie Rose, was designated on March 7, 1907
The flower was chosen by the first graduating class of the University of North Dakota in 1889 as their school colors (pink and green), noting they were “suggestive of our green prairies and rosy prospects”
The Wild Prairie Rose is a hardy, fragrant shrub, featuring five pink petals, yellow stamens, and thorny stems that grows abundantly along roadsides, in pastures, and in native meadows throughout the state
Both the petals and rose hips are edible, with the rose hips rich in vitamins C, E, and K

The Ohio state flower is the Scarlet Carnation, and was adopted in 1904 to honor President William McKinley, an Ohio native who often wore one as a good luck charm
The Carnation symbolizes love, admiration, and passion, and it is famously associated with the city of Alliance, Ohio, known as the “Carnation City”
Dr. Levi Lamborn, of Alliance, Ohio, first introduced the flower to the area in 1866 and grew the specific “Lamborn Red” variety that McKinley wore
The Scarlet Carnation is known for its fragrant, spicy, clove-like aroma, and for its ruffled, fringed petals
Available this Saturday ☺️💛

State Flowers : New Mexico Yucca + New York Rose 🥀
The Yucca blossom was chosen by school children, as well as recommended by the New Mexico Federation of Women’s Clubs — it was officially designated on March 14, 1927
While the legislation did not specify a particular species, the most common are Soaptree yucca and Soapweed yucca
Yucca features tough, spiky evergreen leaves that form a star-like shape, with flowers blooming on stalks that can reach up to 30 feet in height
This plant represents hardiness, since it thrives in sandy soils, gypsum areas, and rocky grasslands
Historically, Native peoples used the roots to create soap and shampoo, due to high saponin content
—
The Rose was designated the official New York state flower on April 20, 1955
Initially, a school children’s poll in 1891 favored the Rose over other candidates, and later, an 1890s vote cemented its popularity
It was chosen for its beauty, hardiness, and symbolic connection to love, war, and politics
The legislation did not pick a specific color or variety, making the “rose in all its colors and varieties” the official choice
New York is home to a diverse range of rose varieties, including wild roses, old garden roses, modern shrubs, climbers, ramblers, hybrid tea roses, and miniature roses

Well, between an early growth spurt/leap, daytime sleep regression, and the 3 month nursing crisis coming early too, the next round of dolls will be released sometime this month 😂🙈
Currently just have to finish the hair, and sew the clothes on, on three dolls (and then photos, etc), but baby love now needs to be bounced or swayed during her entire nap period, so I’m left with maybe an hour or two in the evening to get anything done — and that has been primarily wrangling the yard 😁
Hope that everyone is doing well! 💛

Just received the extra dolls I sent with .the.embers.beads to holiday markets — and I have them now discounted in the shop ☺️
I have also heavily discounted the rest of my dolls as well — hopefully they can find some homes while I am still navigating postpartum 🙈
We are finally getting a bit of a routine, so hoping to begin slowly chipping away at the remaining State Flowers over the next couple months 😁

happy (now very belated) valentine’s day! ♥️ the hormone drop right on valentine’s day, plus latch issues, had me a hot mess for a couple days 😅
but my ultimate dream arrived earth side on february 10th, after two days of back laboring at home, with little progression, followed by pitocin — which amplified my back pain by so much that i signed the epidural paperwork without even taking a moment to skim read it, lol
girl came out with a noggin that looked like a dr seuss-style mountain top, because she was angled poorly in my pelvis for so long, but she is doing amazing, and now has a perfectly round head
currently stuck exclusively pumping about six hours a day, because of latch issues, which is utterly breaking my heart, but i am glad that i am producing more than she needs at the moment
this little creature is beyond perfect, and i can’t wait to see the changes and impacts she will make on my creative journey ♥️

worst year i’ve ever had for business, but i couldn’t care less at this point 😂
due with baby girl exactly a month from now 💛
thank you for sticking around while i have navigated daily changes to my body, and had to almost entirely withdraw from here
your support in my art has allowed me to get all the supplies that we need, as well as give me some wiggle room to rest
still hoping for a final drop sometime in january, but again, we shall see 🙈
i hope everyone has a wonderful nye!! 💛💛💛

New Fellowship in the shop ☺️ Along with some smaller dolls I am ready to part with
The four Altar Dolls I created a few years ago, as my first examples for customs, and the Raggie was left at customs about four or five years ago, so I am now trying to find her forever home 💛
