Maine Bitcoin LLC
Offering education since 2016.
Last month an emergency bill passed that was sponsored by Chip Curry, my own representative, without my knowledge of the existence of the bill, and no comment able to be given by myself or my business partner, which overnight made it against Maine law to operate a profitable business. We have shut our doors after serving Maine for over 9 years, having had offices in 3 cities, over 3 dozen kiosks across Maine and some in New Hampshire. All owners of the business, current and past, are Maine residents. No other business was effected so greatly as our competition has been national companies for the past few years. It is only a small loss for these businesses, but for myself and my business partner it is a complete loss of our business's value.
The bill that passed is LD 1339 and has good intentions on the surface, but operating kiosks costs about 8 times as much as the bill allows us to charge - price fixing a raw commodity, because this is not a service operation. We have done massive work to prevent the scams that the bill intends to prevent through its passing, but I cannot help but see that this bill is aimed directly at making it impossible for any crypto kiosk to ever exist in this state again.
OUT OF BUSINESS - MAINE LD 1339 - IT IS NOW ILLEGAL TO OPERATE A PROFITABLE BUSINESS

Our Story
We began our journey as a company in 2016 with the mission to spread bitcoin to all of Maine.
We have been educating the community about bitcoin and decentralized systems at every opportunity and it's starting to catch on. Bitcoin is becoming extremely popular as an investment hedge against stocks and gold. We teach about how decentralized systems can be used to better our world through provably fair voting systems and opt in social structures. This is a quickly evolving technology that will likely reshape how we define trust in a higher structure.
