This customer did a good job on this DIY shower but unfortunately they did not know how to properly seal the under lining backboard properly. When cracks developed the water got under the tile and created water damage that rotted the backboard. On the outside it looked like a few loose tiles on the edge but it was much worse underneath. After popping the original tiles off I then removed the rotten backboard, cleaned the original tiles off, replaced drywall with more water resistant Hydro Block board, relayed, grout, caulked and sealed the grout. Now its good to go for years to come.
