Seeing Marshall always makes my heart happy, but this visit was extra special because we got to experience something new… Marshall in full dad mode 💙

Over the years, we’ve had many conversations about life with Arthrogryposis, and one topic that came up more than once was parenthood.
For many people with AMC, especially those with arm involvement, becoming a parent can bring a lot of questions.
How will I carry my child?
How will I manage daily tasks?
Will I be able to do the things a parent needs to do?
They are real questions, and they deserve real conversations.

Well, seeing Marshall today was a beautiful reminder that while the path may not always look the same, it can absolutely be figured out.

The fears, the questions, the uncertainty we talked about years ago have now been replaced by lived experience.
Just like he has done throughout his life, Marshall found solutions, adapted, and made it work.
And not only is he doing it, he is thriving.

Representation matters because sometimes seeing someone living a life you once thought might not be possible changes everything.

For anyone with Arthrogryposis wondering if parenthood can be part of their future, Marshall is a wonderful reminder that there is more than one way to do things, and that a meaningful, loving, beautiful parenting journey is absolutely possible 💙

Three years ago Samantha reached out to tell me that her mom, Tammy, had never met another person with Arthrogryposis before. She hoped that one day, when we were back in the USA, we could come visit her.
Sadly, life had other plans in 2024 and we had to postpone the visit. But today… that visit finally happened 💙
And oh my goodness, Tammy completely surprised me.
She is an absolute firecracker. Full of wit, personality, humor, energy, and very clearly someone who takes absolutely no BS from anyone 🤣💙

But something that truly melted my heart was witnessing the love Samantha has for her mom.
In the way she wanted Tammy to enjoy every moment of the visit, in the way she paid attention to her, encouraged her, and cared for her. It was one of those quiet kinds of love that you can tell exists far beyond one special afternoon.

Moments like today remind me why this journey matters so deeply to me.
I still remember what it felt like meeting someone else with Arthrogryposis for the first time, and I know how life changing that experience can be.
So being able to help create that moment for others truly feels like an honor!

One of my favorite things about this journey is reuniting with incredible people we have met through conferences over the years and getting the chance to reconnect after so much time has passed 💙 This time, it was Ashley.
Seeing her again after years and getting to meet her daughter warmed my heart in such a special way. Witnessing the beautiful relationship they have built together was one of those moments that stays with you.
At one point, her daughter shared what it was like growing up with a disabled mom who is also her hero… and suddenly there we were all emotional in the middle of brunch.

During our time together we talked about many things, but one conversation kept finding its way back to us. Rest. Stress management and learning to listen to our bodies.
Growing older with Arthrogryposis is not always easy, especially for so many of us who spent years trying to prove we could do life exactly like everyone else.
But with time often comes wisdom… The understanding that rest is not weakness.
That giving ourselves grace matters.
That taking care of ourselves is also part of building a beautiful life.

Thank you Ashley for sharing your time, your wisdom, and your beautiful family with us !
💙

Visiting Chaney Keira and Mary is truly important to me. Firstly because they are my friends, and we have much in common. But also for the differences we have, it matters to me because we in the community need to remember that we are all differently affected even sharing the same condition. Chaney, Keira and Mary represent the side of the community who needs 24/7 care, also those who aren’t verbal.
They remind me each time that there are bigger, deeper ways to communicate than words.
Keep of dancing and dreaming girls !
