Healing happens in relationships, not just appointments.

At Essence, our mission has always been to create a space where people feel safe, seen, and empowered to heal. We believe mental health care should honor the whole person, mind, body, and nervous system, and meet each individual with compassion, curiosity, and respect.

Whether you’re navigating trauma, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, chronic stress, or simply trying to reconnect with yourself, our vision is to help build a community where healing is accessible, authentic, and deeply human.

We’re honored to have been nominated as one of the Top 5 Mental Health Clinics in the Yakima Herald’s Best of the Valley 2026. If our work has touched your life or you believe in the care we’re bringing to our community, we’d be incredibly grateful for your vote.

Voting is open through July 16, and every vote helps us continue expanding holistic, trauma-informed mental health care in the Yakima Valley.

Thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and believing in our mission. We couldn’t do this without our incredible community.

Essence was nominated and made it to the top five for the Yakima Herald’s Reader Choice Awards!

Every year, the Yakima Herald asks people to tell them who their favorite organizations, professionals, and experiences in the town are. Community members nominate various businesses across many categories. The top nominees then move onto the official ballot and public voting begins. Starting July 1st, people can vote for Essence 1x a day until the voting closes on July 16th. Winners will be announced August 6th.

Whether you live in Yakima or not, if Essence has made a positive impact on your life, we would be incredibly grateful for your vote. Every vote helps us continue expanding access to high-quality, holistic mental health care throughout the Yakima Valley.

If you would like to vote, you can vote just once or submit one vote each day that vote is open. Link is in the bio to vote!

For three months, we’ve been staring at neglected flowerbeds, but no longer!! Essence has cleaned, refreshed, and updated the flowerbeds! This is step one though. We have also figured out a watering system that we will be implementing in the next couple days. That way we can make sure the flowerbed stays watered and happy 😁🌼

You cannot heal in a state of survival.

Before processing trauma, the body must learn that the danger has passed. We have to establish safety and stabilization. There’s many ways to do this, but one of them is through the Eight Limbs of Yoga.

The first two limbs of yoga can provide a framework on how to do this. Often, we have to build self-awareness first and exploring yamas and niyamas is an excellent way to this.

As a trauma specialist and yoga teacher, I do use the first two limbs of yoga in this way. I might not always use Sanskrit words, but the concepts and framework are easy to apply and use.

Follow along for more holistic, trauma-informed content or share with someone who this may resonate with.
