My Story

People ask, “What made you want to be a writer?”

My Reply, “I have a cousin that raps and I looked up to her, the way she played with words and told her story with words. Later, I was introduced to Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes. I fell in love with poetry, it was my way of rapping. I began writing poetry as an outlet for life and its happenings. No matter good days or bad days, nothing could take away my words. The rhyme and rhythm of my poetry was from the beat of my own drum and I was in love. When I put a pen to paper and let it bleed, I get lost in the moment and begin an almost supernatural high. So, I have to give credit to life for wanting to be a writer. For every moment since I heard 9th Street by Big Weazie to I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou; all I wanted to do was write. I just regret taking so long to share with the world!
