Is your chimney safe?

I wanted to post a couple of things to help make this winter safer and a little more comfortable. During a home inspection it is typical to see chimneys and heating systems that have been neglected. All chimneys should be cleaned and inspected annually, this can help identify safety issues and ensure that the chimney is safe for use. It is also important to make sure your heating system has been serviced within the past year, this can help extend the useful life of the system and help prevent heat loss during the winter months. For those of you with a forced hot air system check your filter, a dirty filter causes the system to work harder and consume more energy. By installing a new filter the system can work more efficiently, saving money and providing cleaner air that you breathe.
