Starting Wednesday, June 10, Caltrans will implement 24/7 one-way traffic control on State Route 299 near Buckhorn Summit as crews continue emergency slide repair work.
The eastbound lane will be closed in the slide area for approximately three weeks while crews complete preventative roadway repairs following minor cracking observed after the earlier slide event. Engineers and geologists have evaluated the area and confirmed the roadway remains safe for travel.
⏳ Motorists should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes through the construction zone.
📍 The work area is located just east of Buckhorn Summit near the Shasta-Trinity County line.

Today, we honor the memory of Carl Taylor, Caltrans District 2 Landscape Maintenance Worker II. On June 4, 1976, Mr. Taylor was working on I-5 near the Tehama-Glenn County line when he was struck by an errant driver and killed.

🚧 Construction Zone Safety Reminder 🚧 If you see this sign, you're in a construction zone. Wait for the pilot car—it's the law. Passing without following the pilot car isn't just illegal, it's putting lives at risk. Construction workers, flaggers, and other motorists depend on drivers following these safety protocols. Your patience protects lives. Follow the pilot car, obey all posted signs, and slow down in work zones.
