The first few years of my career I was so caught up about the skills that I felt I lacked. I let my untraditional background make me feel like an imposter (no, I don’t have a computer science degree or coding education).

However, as time, professions, and companies have come and gone, I’ve realized that it’s my strengths that matter SO much more.

I know enough about technology and am passionate about it. I understand developers and empathize with their needs. I communicate effectively with peers and partner teams. I outline short and long term strategies with meaningful business impact. I influence across my team, org, company, and industry. The list goes on.

And that’s how I became a product manager. At Microsoft, then Twitter, and now at Google. My path wasn’t linear nor planned, but I ended up right where I dreamt I could be.

Follow your passions. Lean on your strengths. Create opportunities. Believe in yourself. And just be you. You’ve got this.
