At Springdale, we know being a dog dad means being a protector, playmate, treat supplier, and best friend all rolled into one. Whether you're tossing the ball one more time, sharing the couch after a long day, or proudly showing off photos of your pup to anyone who will look, the love is real: and it deserves to be celebrated.

That’s why we’re setting up a photo booth in our lobby on Thursday, June 18th from 3:30pm - 5:30pm so you can capture a special memory with your four-legged sidekick. 📸 Whether it’s a big slobbery smile, a proud pose, or one of those hilariously chaotic photos where nobody is looking at the camera, those are often the moments that mean the most.

Because being a dog dad isn't just about caring for your pup, it's about the countless little moments in between. The happy greetings at the door, the muddy adventures, the quiet companionship, and the unconditional love that somehow makes every day better. 🐶

Happy early Dog Dad’s Day to all the amazing humans who make tails wag, adventures happen, and life a whole lot more fun. We appreciate you - and so do your pups. 🧡🐾

Did you know that we have 6 special needs long timers in rescue who aren’t adoptable, Tennessee, Sophie, Enzo, Randy, Julio & Harriett?

Each were rescued because they had “issues” we know they were long shots but we had to save them anyway. They live with us, and yes, they take up adoptable dog foster spots, but that’s our only option. They still require food, veterinary care, annual labs, dentals, and the occasional specialty care: ophthalmologist etc.

There’s no “sanctuary” no facility, to “store” long timers, no cages to push them towards the back, we just do the best we can managing their behavior & needs in our homes, with our care, among our personal pets. They get the same treatment & love that our personal pets get. Except they’re not “waiting for adoption” they’re biters, chronic conditions, medical needs, behavior needs, not good with strangers, kids or cats, some don’t even like other dogs so we have to manage them, play round robin crating style, and walk them separately.

This is why it’s important to donate, to become a monthly donor, so that we can continue our mission to help those who need us. We care for those who will never leave us, every day. This is also why volunteer fosters are so desperately needed.

We are incredibly honored and deeply grateful to announce that Dogs Playing for Life has been selected as a recipient of a $15,000 grant from The Canine Rescue Club's 2025 Wildfire Relief Fund!

During the 2025 Los Angeles wildfire crisis, animal shelters faced extreme strain. Thanks to this vital funding, our teams maintained playgroups and enrichment programming at LA Animal Services, helping by "preserving adoptability and easing the path to rescue and foster placement" as the Canine Rescue Club shared.

As our friends also so beautifully put it:

"Behavioral health is the quiet measure of a shelter's response capacity."

Thank you, Canine Rescue Club, for recognizing the power of play and behavioral health, and for standing by us so we could stand by the dogs who needed us most. 💛🐾
