The sick passenger who forced a Delta flight to divert wasn't a person — it was a dog.

A Delta flight from Detroit to Los Angeles diverted to Minneapolis in 2025 after a dog in the cabin fell seriously ill about an hour into the trip.

Flight attendants asked if a veterinarian was aboard, and a passenger volunteered to help. On the vet's advice, the captain landed early so the pet and its owner could get care, and medical staff met the plane.

The captain later told passengers the dog would be okay. The stop delayed the flight by about two and a half hours — a move many travelers praised.
