Remember that surprise proposal that I did a few months ago? Well here is that cute couple again with their engagements. I am always so grateful to have repeat clients!

I had the opportunity to have a session with my cute grandmother!

I saw another photographer on Instagram do a fun little session with her grandma and I knew I had to do one. It took a little convincing but my grandmother ended up agreeing. She told me at the end that it was actually kind of fun.

This session was so special to me in so many ways. I asked my grandmother to bring a photo of my grandpa so we could do a memorial picture with him. She ended up bringing photos from different stages in her life. We laughed and cried through the stories she shared. It was so fun to go down memory lane with her and get to know her even more than I already did.

I lost my other grandma last year and I wish I would have been able to do a photo session with her before she passed. It just reinstilled in me how important it is to update not only your family pictures but also your own portraits. Photos are something that we will always be able to look back on and reflect on the lives that our ancestors lived the memories we had with them, and the stories that we share. I don't care if you don't like your picture taken I can promise you that your family will appreciate them when that is all they have left. Take pictures, cherish the moments, and tell your loved ones that you love them often.

I couldn't share this directly from my personal page so I created my own memory. 7 years ago I took my first family pictures. I took one photography class in high school but didn't know much about portraiture. These families trusted me with my limited knowledge. I don't think the images are that bad but I am happy with the progress I have made over the years. 18-year-old me never even imagined we would have a growing photography business, but I know she would be proud of the work we are doing now. I am so grateful for all the people that believed in me before I did. I wouldn't be where I am without them!
