✨ VALEN FOUND HER FAMILY ✨

Well friends… the first of Lena’s puppies has officially left the building. 🥹❤️

And honestly?

This one feels like it was meant to be.

Last weekend at Canyon Lake Fiesta Days, Valen caught someone’s eye.

Actually… scratch that.

They caught each other’s eye.

Her future mama was working the event as a vendor, so she was busy all day long. She stopped by to meet Valen, spent a little time with her, and then had to get back to work.

But as the day went on, she couldn’t stop thinking about her.

As we were packing up at the end of the event, she came back and said the words every rescuer loves to hear:

“I can’t stop thinking about her.”

❤️

An application was submitted before the event was even over.

A meet-and-greet was scheduled.

And today, Valen met the rest of the family.

The second she walked through the door, it was over.

The kids immediately fell in love.

And honestly? Valen fell in love too.

The entire visit she sat right in front of them, completely focused on every word, every movement, every interaction. Anyone who has met Valen knows how special she is. She’s incredibly smart, incredibly intuitive, and always paying attention.

You could almost see the wheels turning as she watched her new human siblings.

Learning them.

Studying them.

Choosing them.

🥹

Before the meet-and-greet was even over, the kids were already arguing about who gets to sleep with her.

Now technically, Valen is crate trained.

But something tells me this sweet girl may be getting broken out of puppy jail every night by her new human siblings. 😹❤️

After five months of raising these puppies, surviving parvo, losing four of their siblings, celebrating every milestone, and watching them grow into the incredible dogs they are today…

Seeing the first one find her family is emotional.

We’re going to miss this sweet girl so much.

But this is exactly why we do what we do.

Have the best life ever, sweet Valen.

Your family has been waiting for you all along. ❤️

Out of the 15 beagles we rescued from Ridglan Farms, Willow was the one who kept finding us.

Every single time we approached the group, there she was. Tail wagging. Eyes locked on us. Somehow, out of all 15 dogs who had every reason to shut down from the world around them… Willow kept choosing connection. She made herself impossible to ignore.

At the time, she wasn’t “Willow.”
She was HSS3.

Just an ear tattoo so the breeding facility could identify which dog belonged where.
And across her stomach, another tattoo: WIAE.
Wisconsin Animal Experiment.

That was her identity before freedom.
A number. A tattoo. A purpose chosen for her.

Now?
Now we’re living in Willow’s world. 😅

And honestly… Willow’s world is a lot right now.

She has discovered her voice, and she plans on using it nonstop. She keeps the whole house awake barking. She humps every dog in sight like it’s her full-time career. Clyde is over it. Opal is over it. Arlo is DEFINITELY over it. Even the dogs who were entertained by her at first are now looking at her like, “girl… please.” 😭

But the truth is… this is all she’s ever known.

For years, her entire existence revolved around breeding. No toys. No walks. No learning how to just be a dog. No calm home environment teaching her boundaries, safety, routine, affection, or peace.

So while the rest of the world sees a goofy little beagle acting absolutely feral at 2am… we see a dog trying to figure out life after survival.

And every single day, we meet her where she’s at.

Every day when I come home, Willow runs to me with that giant wagging tail and practically asks to be picked up. So I do. I hold her against my chest for long stretches of time while she slowly melts into my arms. At first, her body stayed stiff. Alert. Unsure. But little by little, she’s learning how to relax. Now she curls her head underneath my chin and just stays there. Safe.

Not HSS3.
Not WIAE.
Not an experiment.

Just Willow.
A dog finally learning what it feels like to be loved, protected, and held.

One bark at a time.
