Bullying of autistic children doesn’t always look obvious. Sometimes it’s being left out on purpose, becoming the target of “harmless jokes,” being manipulated by peers, or watching friendships quietly get turned against them.

These experiences can deeply affect a child’s confidence, mental health, sense of safety, and ability to trust others.

Every form of bullying deserves attention, support, and action. Inclusion means creating environments where autistic children feel respected, protected, and genuinely accepted for who they are.

Luke is a gestalt language processor, which means he learns language in scripts, phrases, and chunks instead of single words. He’s always had a song in his heart. We heard him sing long before we ever heard conversational language from him. There’s something incredibly moving about hearing him sing “Part of Your World.” The meaning behind those lyrics is not lost on me. I will never take for granted the gift of hearing his voice in any form. 💙
