Many people in my hometown of Davenport, IA know there is a haunted bell tower downtown, but many don’t realize which one it is.
The bell tower is part of the original Scott County Jail, that was built all the way back in 1897. It is now connected to the newer courthouse and can be accessed by a small road on the backside of the building.
The rumor is that prisoners used to be hung in the bell tower. It is now said that if you go at night, you can see a man hanging in the window.
