Business Owners: Ever wonder how an accounting agency would tackle your Google Drive?
I'm giving you a behind-the-scenes look. đż
Swipe through to see exactly which folders I'd consider must-haves for any business and how I'd structure them to bring a little peace to your financial life.
Think of it like walking through a garden that's been thoughtfully planned. Every row has a purpose. Every plant has its place.
This is how we work:
đ Clear, intentional folders
đ Logical flow from income to expenses to taxes
đ A structure that actually makes sense when tax season rolls around
đ Swipe through and see what resonates. And if something clicks? Save it for later.
đŹ Curious about how we'd apply this to your specific business? That's a conversation I'm happy to have.
Nothing better than leftovers after fourth! Anyone else enjoying their left over BBQ today? We enjoyed a feast while we celebrated with our family yesterday, how did you celebrate our nationâs 250th birthday?
07/04/2026
This is one of our favorite holidays, not just for the barbecues and fireworks, but because it's a time to come together and celebrate the freedom that came at such a tremendous sacrifice.
This year is extra special as we mark the 250th anniversary of our great nation. Two and a half centuries of independence, resilience, and the enduring spirit of liberty, all made possible by those who fought and continue to fight for the ideals we hold dear.
As we gather with family and friends, let's take a moment to reflect on just how far we've come and honor the courage that paved the way. From our team to yours, we wish you a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day!
Here's to 250 years. - The Leading Edge Accounting Solutions Team

The IRS just raised the standard mileage rate to 72 cents per mile for business use in 2026. đż
That sounds exciting, right? But let me gently clear up a common misunderstanding. Hereâs what that does not mean:
đ If you drove your personal car 10,000 miles as an Uber driver, you can not automatically deduct $7,000 for mileage on your tax return.
Why? Because not every mile you drive is deductible.
Your daily commute from home to your first passenger pickup? Generally not deductible.
The personal trip to the grocery store after your shift? Also not deductible.
What does count for Uber drivers (and other gig drivers):
-Miles driven while the app is on waiting for a ride request
-Miles driven to pick up a passenger
-Miles driven with a passenger in the car
-Miles driven to a reasonable area where rides are likely (if youâre strategic about positioning)
What the IRS wants to see:
A mileage log with details for each drive:
â Date
â Business purpose (e.g., âpick up passenger at airportâ)
â Business miles driven (starting point + destination works fine)
You also have a choice:
You donât have to use the standard mileage rate. If you prefer, use the actual expense method â track fuel, maintenance, insurance, and deduct the businessâuse percentage of those costs.
Either way, you need a system. A shoebox full of gas receipts wonât cut it.
Need help figuring out how to track your mileage without losing your mind? Letâs get you organized â one mile at a time.

Wouldnât it be nice if the IRS handed out a cute little decision tree for receipts? đż
Like: âIf you bought this, keep it. If you bought that, youâre fine.â
But the truth is, the IRS doesnât give a ton of guidance. Itâs more like gardening without a perfect map â you learn the basics, then trust your rhythm.
Hereâs what they are sticklers about:
𧞠Keep receipts for:
-All lodging (hotels, Airbnbs, etc.) during business travel
Any purchase of $75 or more for:
-Business travel (other than lodging)
-Nonâentertainment meals
-Gifts
-Transportation
For everything else? The IRS wants a record of:
-Date
-Amount
-Who you paid
-Proof of payment
-Business purpose
Thatâs where good bookkeeping (and account statements) become your best friend. You donât need a shoebox full of paper â just clear, consistent records.
You donât have to be perfect. You just have to be organized enough to tell your story.
If youâre ever unsure what to keep or toss, Iâm happy to walk you through it. A 20âminute chat can save you a lot of âwhat ifâ stress later.
