π©΅ Help Robin & Nami Get the Medical Care They Need π©΅
When Robin & Nami came into our rescue, they were already facing a long road ahead. This bonded pair came to us after their previous owner lost their job and had to move back to California. They arrived intact, on a kibble-based diet, and needing a full wellness evaluation, f***l testing, and neuters before they can ever be considered for adoption.
Unfortunately, Robinβs medical needs have become more urgent.
When Robin arrived, he had an injury to the tip of his tail that was scabbed over. That scab has now fallen off, revealing that the very tip of his tail bone is exposed. At this time, there are no signs of infection and no signs of necrosis, but this can change quickly with exposed bone.
Robin needs to be seen by our exotic veterinarian as soon as possible to evaluate the injury and determine the best course of treatment. There is a possibility he may need a partial tail amputation to prevent further complications and help him heal properly.
We are also still working toward getting both Robin & Nami:
π©Ί Wellness exams
π© F***l testing
βοΈ Neuters
π§ͺ Any additional diagnostics they may need
We estimate their medical costs will be at least $1,000, and could reach $1,500β$2,000+ depending on what their exams and diagnostics reveal.
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3), we operate entirely on donations and adoption fees. All donations are tax-deductible. Every dollar helps us continue saying yes to gliders who need medical care, rehabilitation, and a second chance.

π¨ Educational Post: Cyclospora & Your Pets π¨
With the recent increase in Cyclospora (Cyclospora cayetanensis) cases being reported across the United States, weβve seen several people asking if they should be concerned about their sugar gliders or other pets.
The good news is:
πΎ Cyclospora cayetanensis is a human-specific parasite.
Current evidence shows that this parasite infects people, not sugar gliders, dogs, cats, or other household pets. Your pets are not known to become infected with it or spread it to people.
How do people get it?
People become infected by consuming food or water contaminated with human f***s containing the parasite. In the United States, outbreaks have most commonly been linked to contaminated fresh produce such as leafy greens, herbs, berries, and other fresh fruits and vegetables.
Can I catch it from my sugar glider?
No. There is no evidence that sugar gliders serve as a host for Cyclospora cayetanensis or that they can transmit this parasite to humans. Likewise, infected people are very unlikely to spread it directly to others because the parasite must mature in the environment for 1β2 weeks before it becomes infectious.
Should I stop feeding my gliders fresh fruits and vegetables?
No. Fresh produce remains an important part of a properly balanced sugar glider diet.
Instead, continue practicing good food safety:
π₯¬ Wash produce thoroughly under running water before preparing it.
π§Ό Wash your hands before handling food.
πͺ Clean cutting boards and utensils after preparing produce.
π§ Use clean water when washing fruits and vegetables.
If you become sickβ¦
Symptoms can include:
β’ Watery diarrhea
β’ Stomach cramps
β’ Nausea
β’ Fatigue
β’ Loss of appetite
If you develop persistent diarrhea, contact your healthcare provider. A specific test may be needed to diagnose Cyclospora, and it is treatable with prescription medication.
