A little life update from over here 🤍

This year has been… a lot. We went from preparing to sell our house to suddenly not moving at all, navigated some unexpected medical stuff that thankfully led to answers, survived a few rounds of household plague, and spent a lot of time reevaluating what really matters.

In the middle of all of it, I found myself leaning hard into the heart behind this business: Take Note of What Matters.

That’s looked like less time online, more time with my family, more little adventures, and more intentional pauses.

Truthfully, I’ve also felt myself pulling away from social media a bit lately because it feels like it’s lost a lot of the “social” part. I’m tired of everything being ads, algorithms, and constant promotion. So I’m going to try to do my small part in changing that over here — sharing more real life, more behind-the-scenes moments, more everyday joy, and a little less “buy this.”

(Of course I’ll still pop in with the big things — like next week’s 10 year anniversary celebration 🎉).

Even if I’ve been quieter here this year, please know I’m still happily fulfilling orders, dreaming up new designs, and incredibly grateful you’re here.

Happy Friday! Despite storms and a major lack of sleep this week, I ended up doing everything that I had hoped.

The big projects for the week for were to do all the images for this year's state holiday cards (finished Wednesday) and yesterday I started the Beginner Procreate 5x class by (mental note...I have no business attempting to draw florals after 9 PM). Full disclosure, my inner perfectionist isn't thrilled with how the first project turned out but considering that this is my first time using the program, I'm okay with it. I'll probably redo it when I'm done with the course to see how far I've come. 😉

One of my favorite things is when a print proof comes out looking just like what I'd envisioned AND what my screen colors look like (sometimes things don't line up nicely between screens and print) 😍.

Here's a sneak peek at this year's state holiday card pattern! This week's big projects for are to knock out the holiday card designs for all 50 states (along with all the corresponding listing images) and starting a beginner's course in Procreate.

Let's be honest...when I'm busy working on something new or life is completely insane, I go totally silent. This month I'll be breaking that pattern and sharing progress every single day (Monday through Friday) while participating in this year.

The goal of the challenge is to finish one project but really...I get bored and bop around a lot. Here are all the goals for this month:

- Finish this year's holiday greeting card collection. I know, I know. It's only May first but these collections are my biggest each year and take weeks to months from start to finish!

- monthly bookkeeping (a necessary evil)

- completing at least 3 online courses

Bonus goals:
- prepare my website for a long overdue update
- start uploading the holiday listings to the website for a July launch 🤞

It's a lot for sure but I'm also taking most of June off (more on that as it gets closer) so this is a great month to buckle down and focus on knocking tasks out!

📝 Recycled Papers: Almost all of our stationery is crafted from FSC certified papers, minimizing deforestation and using recycled papers whenever possible.

🛍️ Reusing Packaging: When we receive plastic and cardboard packaging in our orders, we reuse as much as possible in our outgoing orders. Frequently the only thing left behind is the box!

🌿 Biodegradable Bags: Say goodbye to traditional plastic packaging! We’ve switched to biodegradable cellophane for a greener packaging solution.

📦 Consolidated Deliveries: Instead of shipping orders daily, we combine orders into 2 pickups a week, reducing the number of trips delivery vehicles make and lowering our carbon footprint.

🎨 Misprints to Masterpieces: Those occasional misprints and damaged papers? We’re giving them new life as drawing paper for our kids, sparking creativity and promoting resourcefulness.
