Thursday Trip - Oktoberfest 2026 in Munich

If you enjoy beer, have you ever considered attending the largest beer festival in the world? The 191st Oktoberfest kicks off on September 19 and runs through October 4, 2026, in Munich, Germany.

The festival takes place at the famous Theresienwiese grounds, where massive tents hosted by Munich’s traditional breweries invite visitors to enjoy world-class beer and savor authentic Bavarian cuisine. The celebration officially begins when the Mayor of Munich taps the first beer barrel, marking the start of this iconic event.

Oktoberfest also features two vibrant parades—one showcasing beautifully decorated wagons and brewery carriages, and another highlighting traditional costumes, hunters, and musicians. Beyond the beer tents, you’ll find carnival rides, lively entertainment, and a spectacular free concert where approximately 300 musicians from the festival’s bands perform together at the steps of the Bavaria statue. It’s an unforgettable experience to hear traditional folk and marching music played in unison.

While in Munich, be sure to visit Marienplatz, the city’s central square. Here, you can watch the famous Rathaus-Glockenspiel, a charming mechanical clock with life-sized figures that reenact scenes from Munich’s history. Consider enjoying a leisurely alfresco breakfast at one of the surrounding cafés while taking in the show.

You may also want to add a day trip to the enchanting Neuschwanstein Castle—an inspiration for Disney’s Cinderella Castle. Perched above breathtaking landscapes of lakes and mountains, this fairytale-like palace offers fascinating history and stunning views, along with a glimpse of nearby Hohenschwangau Castle.

If you’re ready to start planning your trip to this enchanted destination, contact Vamonos Vacations. We would love to help you design and book a truly memorable experience.

Auf Wiedersehen! (Good bye!)

Some places don’t even look real until you’re standing there yourself. Would this make your travel wish list?

Traveling is not just seeing the new; it is also leaving behind ✨

A lot of popular destinations can feel completely different depending on when you visit. The same place might be busy and energetic one season, then quiet and relaxed just a few months later.

If your trip isn't centered around a specific event or season, consider traveling during the shoulder or off-season. You may find better deals, fewer crowds, and a whole new perspective on a destination.

Packing tip: roll your clothes instead of folding them. It saves space and helps keep everything a little less wrinkled when you unpack.
