Charlie Palmer Steakhouse at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino …… Expectations were high hoping for a Great Meal, Hmmmmm The 21 Day Dry Aged steak was supposed to be the “Star” of the show. Well, it was not. 21 Days is barely enough time to get the muscles to relax. Let alone get any of the anticipated earthy, nutty flavors into the steak. Give me something 35-65Days!! Impress me and please take my $$$! I was expecting a nice hard sear, what was delivered could be best described as a sous vidé cooked steak with a light, I mean light char!! Steak ”was” tender but lacked the s*x appeal we were hoping for. Where’s the crust? The rendered fat? The crisp like bacon fat that I can cut off and add to every bite? It was like a wallflower at the senior Prom - Seen but definitely not bangin the Homecoming Queen!! Rib Eye came with a Rosemary Butter served atop, NOPE!!! That didn’t help. That actually takes away from the flavors we were craving!
Let’s move on to the Surf & Turf….. Half of a Maine Lobster (Rubbery & Over Cooked) served with Clarified Butter and 7oz Filet. - - - Filet is Filet. It didn’t wow. But it didn’t disappoint. It’s was just a Filet.
Sautéed Mushrooms: Served in a quaint little pan as if they were cooked in it. Again, Nope- That was just a serving dish presented to hold the blonde under seasoned over garlic’d blah blah bland bland mushrooms. One of the easiest items to WOW a guest with. Salt, Pepper, Madeira, Balsamic, Pond water…. Something for the love of God!!! I’m Covid free and my tastebuds are perfectly fine. Which brings me to the Glass of wine. Have you ever Opened a great bottle of wine, had a few glasses and didn’t quite finish (I’m talking about wine here)! Then the next evening try and finish that bottle…… The profiles are definitely not the same! Like an over bloomed flower, it’s just not going to come back to life. No matter how much I swirled it, no matter how much cpr with help from the AED…. It wasn’t coming back to life!
Service was average and felt robotic. Definitely scoring this 🥩🥩 2 Steaks. Cheers

We’d like to dive in a bit deeper on this one, as we’ve been here a couple of times prior to this and have had delicious food and wonderful service. We started with a fresh hand made mozzarella, cut table side and served on toasted sourdough crostini which were absolutely delicious. The Herb Infused Pappardelle & Short Rib Sugo, which we’ve had before was wonderful. Perfect portion size, tender pasta and short rib that are packed with rich flavor. We also ordered the 14 Day Dry Aged Ribeye, it comes in at approximately 12oz and is served with grilled broccolini and potato gratin. The star of the plate was the potato gratin, the 14 day dry aged ribeye, although cooked perfectly to the requested temp had a rich flavor of an over charred grill. That flavor resonated and was only cut by the truffle butter served atop the steak. At 14 days, the dry aging process has barely begun, so it didn’t lend any true enhancements to the meat. When we asked the server what grade of beef it was, he responded by asking “what temp we would like the steak cooked to”. Onto the grilled broccolini……. Please, do not grill broccolini as the florets absorb ALL of that heavy char flavor and it becomes bitter and overpowering. Simple steam with salt and pepper would have been amazing. Let the flavor of the broccolini shine on its own. As the evening wound down, we were approached twice and asked how our meal was. On each account we commented on how wonderful the pasta and short ribs were and that we were not as pleased with the ribeye dish. Each time they failed to acknowledge our displeasure and went about clearing our table. We still recommend this restaurant as they have many amazing items on their menu. If you get a chance to go, dine out in the courtyard and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. We would rate this experience at 4 steaks out of five 🥩🥩🥩🥩
