7 boys. Only 3 regulars. 20 minutes in, you couldn’t tell the difference.
That’s not luck, that’s what happens when you build an environment where mistakes don’t cost anything. Give players a framework, not a script. Let them fail forward. What you get isn’t memorized plays, rather it’s understanding.
The spacing, the rotation after every pass. Nobody told them where to run, they read it, together, in real time. That’s 4 boys who’d never shared a court, syncing up with three who had, because the principles were already there: pass, control, move. See it early. Take the risk.
This is what we mean when we say we don’t just play the game — we understand it.
