Seasons breathings 🌬✨❄️ This holiday season, there’s no right or wrong way to feel or way you “ should” be experiencing them. Our breath is a healing tool that is always with us. It’s not a tool we use to fix our experiences or do away with negative feelings, but instead, our breath provides us with a way to harness our biology and create space for our inner experiences - whatever those may be. An invitation to be with, rather than resist, however you are feeling 💛

Often when we experience distressing and uncomfortable body sensations, the discomfort we are feeling is our brilliant, yet primitive survival mechanisms which have the biological function to keep us alive.
•
The nervous system has three main functions: 1) To collect sensory input from the body and external environment. 2) To process and interpret the sensory input. 3) To respond appropriately to the sensory input.
•
However, at times our bodies react to situations/sensory inputs that aren’t life threatening, and our protective systems still work to prepare us for danger that is not present.
•
When our bodies are responding to threats that aren’t present; it’s not comfortable, and we may want to change or get rid of the sensation, instead of allowing space to try and simply notice, without judgment In these moments, we can come back to the body with our breath, and remind ourselves that its our body’s way of trying to keep us safe. It’s an outdated but incredible survival mechanism that is highly reactive in our stressful, modern world. it’s nothing that is wrong with you.
