Let’s talk custom orders 👀 (vulnerable & long post).

When I first did this custom I was VERY disappointed about the back of the shirt being a little too dark around some of the band names to be able to read them, even though that was not my intention for the shirt that’s what happened. Thank goodness it was a custom for my boyfriend so I knew he would love it anyways.

When it comes to my tie dyes I am such a “perfectionist” that little “mistakes” like this can break me down and make me feel like a failure (I legit cried over this shirt because I felt like it looked like s**t). But I had to remind myself, I am not a failure, far from it, I am a creator, human and constantly learning. And I am an artist, and art doesn’t always have to be perfect.

I have debated on stopping custom orders completely (right now they are on pause, due to having so many custom projects that are backed up) but I am learning to give myself grace, not criticize myself so much and just be an artist. If my custom orders have taken longer than expected, this is why, I am always second guessing my talent and don’t want to let anyone down. But again, I am trying to let go of those doubts and fears.

I wanted to share this today because I think it’s important as artists/people we share vulnerable moments we go through, because I know I’m not the only artist/person that has these feelings.

It’s been a year to the day that I tie dyed this shirt, and I can now see the beauty and complex designs I was able to accomplish and that I created a one of a kind piece for someone I love.
When I began this tie-dye journey I never began to imangine I would be able to create something so beautiful, but I did and I want to acknowledge that for myself.

Thank you to everyone that encourages me in this tie dye journey, it truly means a lot to me ✨. A lot of people think tie dye is all peace love and happiness, and while it is, it’s still a business and an art and like everything else in the world it can have its dark moments but it’s important to remember without the darkness there can’t be light 🖤
