Hello everyone. I want to share my perspective on new business responses in light of the current state of our economy and the events industry. I have sent out some inquiries for various venues in the past week. I have received some very appropriate responses showing personal interest and some - what I would say are not in line with the current state of our industry. We all know that calls are down. Clients are worried about scheduling, worried about the economy, and wondering when Covid is going to raise its ugly head again (as if it has gone away! I posted something to this subject and my perspective on it - on LinkedIn a few weeks ago. In a nutshell, the days of set packages are not going to work. At least not with my clients. If I send an inquiry, I expect someone to ask for a call to discuss the clients needs. When I get a response back that is clearly a standard email with packages, minimums, and other restrictions, it sets a negative tone. Yes, maybe your property or service was in high demand a year ago, I doubt that is still the case. It is time to change the tone and focus on customer service FIRST. Again, just my opinion, but now is the time for flexibility and a true interest in what the clients want and need. If it doesn't work, then at least we tried. Just my two cents. And thank you to those who responded personally to my inquiries. It is going a long way!
