BHI Sponsoree Spotlight!

This is going to be stellar. Repost from

Join us for an exclusive pre-opening premiere of Re:Collect, the world’s first fully immersive Afro-futurist art space, on October 17th @ 6pm. This is a rare, one-time opportunity to meet the artists, engage with the curator, and step into a portal that merges the future and the past.

Featuring tactile and interactive works, captivating soundscapes, and more, Re:Collect invites you to explore visions of a liberated future and the depths of ancestral memory. Be among the first to experience the complete “NOT LIKE US” series by Alim Bey, the premiere of Hair by Susy’s breathtaking 30-foot “Deliverance” chandelier, and many other extraordinary creations.

Special thanks to SURJ and Santa Cruz Black Health Matters Initiative for making this event possible.

Register via the link in our bio—spaces are limited. Don’t miss out.

Team Shoutout & Call for Applicants! 🥹❤️

We’re sending a HUGE THANK YOU and even more love to our incredible summer intern, Reba Thomas! Reba has been a rockstar, making a significant impact on our team. From event preparation and ex*****on to administrative and operational support, and managing our Feed2Birds program, Reba has played a vital role in our mission to support the health and wellness of the community. As she heads back to UCLA this semester, we’re excited and proud of her, but will miss her dearly. Thank you, Reba!

With Reba transitioning out of her role, we’re opening applications for a new Intern! SWIPE to learn more and reach out via email or DM to connect.

FRIDAY JUNE 28 10:30-3PM

We still have a couple spots for our Nature Day with Aniko! This will be a family friendly hike along the San Lorenzo River bank in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park where we learn about the riparian habitat and the journey of the steelhead trout from the mountains to the sea and back. Enjoy the spectacular Coast Redwoods and hear of their historical and natural significance in California on a bonus train ride at Roaring Camp Railroad. Then end the day with some river play to beat the summer sun!

We have a small bus to transport a handful of kiddos. DM or email TODAY to claim a spot for your little. Young ones with guardians up to 11.
