The NMPRC is hosting an initial workshop on March 5 to explore potential updates to the Community Solar Rule. With the program evolving over the past two years, this is an opportunity to weigh in on possible changes, including:
•Project selection procedures
•Potential amendments to awarded projects
•Low-income subscriber impacts
•Avoided cost and subsidy issues

Public Comment Hearing in Farmington
The NMPRC will hold a public comment hearing on Monday, March 3, in Farmington regarding PNM’s proposed resource additions to meet growing energy demand by summer 2028.
What’s at stake?
PNM seeks approval for:
•100 MW solar & 30 MW battery storage in Shiprock
•167 MW natural gas capacity extension in Belen
•Two 150 MW battery storage projects in Bernalillo County

Exciting News! New Mexico’s Community Solar Program is making progress as four projects officially break ground.
Construction is now underway in Otero, Curry, and Valencia counties, bringing renewable energy access to more New Mexicans, including renters, small businesses, and low-income households. These projects are a key step in expanding solar energy for those who cannot or choose not to install panels on their own property.
• 47 total projects are planned across New Mexico
• 200 megawatts of clean energy in the pipeline
• At least 30 percent of energy reserved for low-income subscribers
