At my last sales meeting, where they gave me yet another award, they kept us at a sales clinic; teaching us the “Elevator Pitch”. For those who don’t know, it’s theory of pitching an idea in 15 seconds or less. It was boring. I wasn’t listening. Suddenly I got called upon. I stutter and whole room of 250 laughed at me, including the presenter…

At the end of the clinic, the presenter asked the cliché question: “Does any one have any questions?” Of course everyone wanted to get out of there.

I raised my hand and asked:

“If it’s possible to pitch an idea in 15 seconds, why have we been exposed to this uninspiring presentation for the last hour and a half?”

After 8 years, still the top salesman with the largest territory and revenue, they let me go the following November with a nine month old baby in my arms.

“Be weary of little people with authority…”

My English is so much better now and I’ve been feeding my family with multiple businesses that I’ve created.
