Harvey is a happy, goofy pup who came to Illinois from Texas and has been stealing hearts ever since. He loves to run, play with other dogs, chew on squeaky toys, and then relax in the shade when he’s worn himself out. His funniest habit? Sitting in the yard watching traffic like it’s his favorite TV show!

He’s affectionate, smart, and eager to be part of the family. Harvey is fully potty and crate trained, knows “sit,” and is learning good leash manners. He does best with an active family who will continue his training and give him plenty of love and playtime.

This 3-year-old, 75-pound Kelpie/Shepherd mix is accepting applications for her new favorite human. Requirements include throwing toys, sharing the couch, and understanding that she fully intends to supervise everything you do.

Some dogs walk through our shelter doors and find their family within days.

Others wait.

And wait.

Nanna has become one of those dogs.

Month after month, she’s watched other dogs leave for their happily ever after while she stays behind, wondering when it will finally be her turn.

The hardest part? We honestly don’t know why.

Nanna is everything people say they’re looking for.

She came to us all the way from Texas after being found as a stray. Despite being let down by people before, she still wakes up every day with hope. She greets volunteers with a wagging tail, loves playing with her dog friends, soaks up every belly rub she can get, and after a fun walk, she’s perfectly content curling up beside you for a nap.

She loves sunbathing. She loves toys. She loves people.

She just doesn’t have a person to call her own.

Like any dog, Nanna isn’t perfect. She can be reactive to other dogs while on leash, so she’ll need someone willing to continue building her confidence through training. She also takes medication for seasonal allergies.

But none of those things define her.

What defines Nanna is her enormous heart, her resilience, and her unwavering ability to love despite everything she’s been through.

Every night she goes back into her kennel instead of a home.

Every morning she wakes up hoping today will be different.

We’re hoping someone out there sees what we’ve always seen—that this incredible girl is worth saying “yes” to.
