In partnership with Clark Construction Group, Crutcher Structures is delivering a major concrete package for the 467,000-square-foot ground-up hospital building, along with a 53,000-square-foot mass timber administration building.
Our team continues to progress west to east along the new hospital's footprint.
By the numbers so far:

We’ve placed the first concrete footings on the South Lab Addition at the Washington Public Health Laboratories campus in Shoreline. When complete, the 32,000-square-foot expansion will add new labs and offices for the Environmental Lab Services department, expanding testing capabilities and capacity for the Washington State Department of Health across a wide range of public health needs.
In April, the team expects to have slab on grade placement complete and structural steel on site.
This new facility will advance prevention and preparedness in Washington while reflecting a commitment to modern public health infrastructure that supports our communities.
The South Lab Addition will be complete in Q2 2027.

Our scope begins this month and will continue through summer 2026. This highly technical, phased work will be completed in sectors, with our team moving west to east along the new hospital's footprint. Crews will be starting with below-grade slabs in the basement before progressing above grade and then moving to the next sector.
The team will place about 40,000 cubic yards of concrete, including foundations, concrete decks, shear walls, and more. In addition to the concrete work, Lewis will be overseeing operations for the project’s three tower cranes, with the first set to be assembled this summer.
