I was crunching some numbers earlier, and after 6 years of DJing with weddings, corp events, parties, proms, playing for a football team's games in an arena, amazing sports parties at the Hall in front of Lumen field, I'm still super cool with getting song requests. And I get them all the time, nice people, people who give me money to play the song they want, people who give me A LOT of money to play a song they want, and rude people who feel like I should have already played the song they want already before they even asked, because duh(?)
And out of this better part of a decade I've been asked to play:
Bad Bunny 10,467 times and counting.
Kid Rock? 0
And I play everything. Rock, Hip Hop, country (within reason), House, Trance, Techno, Soul, Bavarian cheese whistle solos... You name it. I've no shame.
But, Kid Rock? Never been asked.
I wonder what he's been up to...
So I'm watching Stranger Things again, and sure I can still suspend my disbelief that a bunch of moody kids can save the world without the help of the government and local authorities. But I don't think I should be led to belief that a rollerskate rink DJ would spin a special song to help ruin a high-school freshman's life. Probably...
