Recently, I started wearing my father’s watch. I’ve been thinking about him a lot lately. This watch was a gift from the company he worked for his entire career, Dow Corning. On the back it says “Presented to Adelbert A Miller in Appreciate of 25 years of Loyal Service”. There’s just so much I could say about that. 25 Years of Loyal Service. This man gave his career to this company, and this company provided him with career growth opportunities, opportunities to live overseas (which we did!) and the ability to raise a family. And not only that, this company continues to pay my mother a pension (my father has since passed away) for his LOYAL service. Seems unheard of nowadays.
 
Fast forward to this week. I’m running my own global Salesforce consulting firm. I’m taking some big steps (at least for me) to speak at a conference in Chicago. Here at this pretty niche conference at the cross-section of Salesforce and Nonprofit organizations, I meet 2, TWO! people who also lived in Midland, Michigan (the HQ of Dow Corning). AND 1 person’s dad ALSO worked for Dow Corning. I had the pleasure to show him my father’s watch with pride, he took a picture to send to HIS dad. As we talked more, we realize we have much in common with our work and where we live (PNW). Such a pleasure to show up as my whole person and to share that with folks. I so appreciate the synergies that come. Dad, I know you are there watching (pun intended) over me and I know you would be proud. Thank you!
