# # When Your Brain Is Already Three Steps Ahead
Have you ever interrupted someone and immediately regretted it?
Not because you wanted to be rude, but because your brain had already connected the dots before the conversation got there.
For many people with ADHD, this is a familiar experience. A discussion begins, an idea appears, and within seconds that idea branches into three more. While the other person is still explaining their first point, your mind has already explored several possible endings.
The challenge isn't a lack of respect.
The challenge is trying to hold onto a thought that feels like it might disappear if you wait too long.
That's why conversations can sometimes feel like a race between listening and remembering. You genuinely want to hear every word, yet at the same time you're working hard not to lose the thought that just arrived.
Over the years, many people with ADHD become painfully aware of how often they're told to "wait your turn" or "stop interrupting." Eventually, they begin second-guessing themselves, staying quiet longer than they want to, and worrying about how they're being perceived.
What others see as impatience is often a brain moving at a different speed.
And while that fast thinking can create challenges during conversations, it's also the same ability that fuels creativity, problem-solving, quick connections, and innovative ideas.
# # The Part Most People Don't See
ADHD isn't always about struggling to pay attention.
Sometimes it's about paying attention to so many thoughts at once that choosing which one to hold onto becomes the real challenge.
A little patience, understanding, and awareness can make conversations feel easier for everyone involved.
Us neurodivergents we don't fall behind, we run on a different timeline. Our frontal lobe can keep developing well into our 30s. Our faces stay young. Our energy stays curious. And somehow, underneath all of that, lives the deepest, wisest soul in the room. Stay whimsical you lovely NDs, that's your strength and what makes you different !
