I believed the hardest part of my story was losing the boy I loved after prom—until he looked me in the eyes on our wedding day and told me my father had forced him to keep a secret for ten years.
Jordan and I had been inseparable since primary school.
By prom, everyone expected us to go together.
That evening, at 11 p.m. beneath the string lights outside the gym, he kissed me and admitted he'd been waiting two years for the moment.
The following morning, he disappeared without a trace.
No calls.
No letters.
Soon after, his family left the state.
Later, my father and I ran into Jordan's aunt while shopping. She saw Dad, burst into tears, looked terrified, and hurried away before I could ask why.

"Before I say my vows," he whispered, "there's something your father made me promise NEVER to tell you. I've been holding it in for ten years. But you need to know what he really did."
Everything inside me went still.
"Jordan," I whispered. "What are you talking about?"
He looked toward my father in the front row.
Dad's face lost all color.
His hand froze around the wedding program.
"Don't you dare," he whispered.
But it was TOO LATE as Jordan was already turning back to me to confess something terrible — right there, in front of everyone. ⬇️ Read more in the 1st comment 👇
