The Ultimate Guide to Women’s Sexual Health, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) & Menopause The Mel Robbins Podcast · Episode
I'm a positive person, more at this point in my life than ever before - but I admit that I have my darker moments.
Things that happen sometimes, things that I can't do anything about can make me angry or take me so deep into frustration that I sometimes find myself thinking something so awful about another person - and then I'm immediately filled with shame.
My thoughts start to shower down on me and then I beat myself up for thinking them.
"What kind of person thinks something like that?"
"You're supposed to be a loving person, that's anything but loving."
"What a poser you are, if people only knew what happens in your head."
Listen... nobody can give me a better beat down than I can.
Sometimes it feels like the best choice for those moments is to take a nap - and I do!
If I wake up and the frustration is still here, I try to steer my thoughts away from what I can't control and try to refocus on what I can.
More importantly, I'm giving myself some compassion for how dark my attitude was earlier.
I can't control everything. In the grand scheme of things, I can't control much at all except for myself and my actions and reactions.
The truth is, this life can be messy and I am never going to get it as right as I want to.
So I love myself anyway and you are self-loveable too. Don't forget that.
How do you handle those times when your mind isn't moving in a positive direction ?
