We're getting excited for our upcoming winter welcome event (week of March 15th!), and we'd love to share a little something from the artist who designed our logo for 2021! Below is Emma Song's thoughts on her design, and a little about the artist herself!
“I feel like many people associate the climate crisis to despair, but through our activism and through the continuation of research in this field, I am hopeful that we can sustain and love our beautiful planet as shown in this painting! A future of flourishing organisms and healthy oceans is only what the next generation deserves, and nothing less.”
Emma is an undergrad at UW studying Speech and hearing Sciences with a minor in ASL. She is involved in climate activism, including the UW Chapter for Institutional Climate Action, and uses her art to focus on both the reality of our situation as a planet, but also hope for a better future. In her spare time Emma surfs, swims, and of course, creates more beautiful artwork. Follow her on her instagram , to support this amazing artist and her work!.
