These kickoff events are free & open to all, because conflict resolution and mediation are such critical & important concepts. Events that invite everyone to learn more deconstruct the artificial border between conflict resolution professionals and the public.

NW Collaborative Futures Conference has a incredible lineup (more than 75 speakers/32 hours of programming including a mini film fest!) on conflict resolution and deconstructing artificial borders. It includes talks about the campaign against non-disclosure agreements in sexual harassment cases, the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women, immigration and refugees, police arbitration reform and conflict resolution skill building sessions.

We are pleased to welcome Alice Shikina and James Cook for a presentation on workplace conflict for the Northwest Collaborative Futures Conference.

Mediation is all about tearing down walls and building up communication. People build fortresses around themselves at work, stop all conducive conversations and begin to build an empire of conflict. The biggest complaint is that people are not being heard or understood. Most workplace conflicts do not belong in the courts. They need to be deconstructed, understood and rebuilt on healthier relationships.

James Cook and Alice Shikina will discuss the nature of conflict in the workplace and the ways to deal with larger organizational turmoil and how to deconstruct those walls in order to begin to build bridges.
