🔺 Anakin Saephanh is a visual artist and current resident at Shunpike's Artist Residency at 380 Union St! Visit his studio during open hours or during the next Downtown Art Walk on June 26.
--------------------------------------------
🔻 Saephanh’s work intermixes photography, painting, digital illustration and collage that center around the interplay between the fictive or digital and reality within the framework of a personal narrative. With diaried words, he describes that relationship melancholically to evoke a sense of standstill and reflection for himself simultaneously fueling a visual endeavor of compiling imagery that speaks to those words and emotions.
That research then informs a body of work that reflects on a multifaceted identity: Fractures of Asian American descent in tandem with the more specific identity of being Iu Mien American; the oddities of maleness and gendered desire, and it in context to his position socially— all largely narrated by a life led in isolation and alienation.
“I’d like to think that making each piece is saving myself in different ways. That can be pressing Command-S and saving a document of my life in an abstract way, or finding catharsis with the content of each piece I make— which again takes on many different forms too.”

🌿 Stacy’s work centers on botanical and wildlife illustration rooted in place-based storytelling and ecological observation. Drawing inspiration from the ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest and other landscapes she travels through, she creates detailed, hand-rendered imagery that invites viewers to slow down and notice the natural world. Her practice bridges fine art, illustration, and design, often extending into prints, textiles, murals, and educational visual narratives. Through her work, she aims to foster curiosity, care, and a sense of connection to land, plants, and wildlife. She is especially interested in how illustration can function in public and community-facing spaces, making art accessible while communicating environmental values. Her goal is to create work that feels both visually rich and quietly grounding, offering moments of reflection within everyday environments.
